Bangkok is a vibrant city with a lot of action, shopping, nightlife, and restaurants. You can find high-end stores and also local markets in this international destination. Rachelle shares what she found on her trip here.
While you are there definitely check out the cat cafe called CATURDAY. It is soooo cute and fun. The desserts are so good. Get the rainbow crepe cake. Also, the night market is nice, called Asiatique. It is a nice place to walk around and shop. There are so many restaurants that you can try here.
The one thing I could not get over was the traffic, it was really bad! For people who do not want to take public transportation or taxis, there will be no way to go far in Bangkok without getting stuck in traffic for hours.
Definitely take a ride in a Tuk Tuk. Go to the very top of the Banyan Tree hotel at night for drinks. You will get the best view of the city.
For dinner definitely go to Namsaah Bottling Trust. The tricks these girls do are unbelievable. The food and ambiance are amazing! Make sure you get the Tom Kha Gai soup, it’s so good! Also, make sure to try out their fried ice cream for dessert. Yummmmmmmyyyy!!! They have a great wine list too if that
Some good 5-star hotels to stay at are The Okura Prestige which is a Leading Hotels of the World Property. Great rooms, and terrace overlooking the city to have drinks. Breakfast is amazing. Modern, new hotel, with great gym and pool. Also, St. Regis is amazing and new. Really nice rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Great breakfast and gym/pool. It is an AMEX fine hotels property.
If you want to stay in the old town and on the water where you will see all the Thai-style boats then the Peninsula hotel is good. They have a free boat shuttle to take you to the main site of the town and on the weekends a free boat shuttle to take you to the night market. It is an older hotel and also an AMEX fine hotel property. www.peninsula.com/bangkok.
Despite a number of tourist hotspots, Thailand has amazing beaches. Freedom Beach and Sunset Beach on the island of Koh Kradan are amongst some of the more quiet and secluded options worth exploring while in Thailand.
As the capital, Bangkok is one of the most popular places to visit in Thailand. Long-time ex-pats frequently find it difficult to return home after living in the city for a time. Travelers usually don’t love Bangkok after their arrival, but they often change their minds as they explore other parts of Thailand.
Some feel that the capital is crowded and leave less than impressed. Although Bangkok is visited by many people, those who stray away from the popular attractions will find there are several things to see and do. The city has everything from temples to red-light districts, sky bars, museums, and art galleries.
